Part 1
Picture Keeper & Sizzix Eclips Machine
I just recently returned from the Craft and Hobby Association’s summer show in Rosemont, Illinois. For those of you out there who do not know what the CHA show is, let me share with you what the CHA website has to say about the organization. “In early 2004, the two most successful organizations serving the craft and hobby industry, the Hobby Industry Association (HIA) and the Association of Craft and Creative Industries (ACCI), joined together to form the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA). Together as CHA, the new Association forms a single, more dynamic and powerful force to drive the craft industry into the future.” With that being said, let me share with you some additional information. CHA has two trade shows each year, usually in January and July. These shows have the largest gathering of editors, manufacturers, publishers, designers and retailers in the world, and the winter show is so big it takes days to walk it and see everything. To put it simply, it’s huge!
I had this wonderful idea to go to the show, check out what’s new and cool in scrapbooking and the paper arts, and come home to write an article about it to share with all of you. Well, once I got back home and I began to organize my thoughts for this article, I realized I had way too much information and too many companies that I wanted to share with you. I knew I could never fit the information into one article. So, what I’ve decided to do is create a series of articles that I will bring to you in 4 to 5 parts. After reading this first installment, be sure to check back with me each week for the next one. I have some wonderful products and companies that I know you’re just dying to hear about.
Picture Keeper
Picture Keeper is the simplest automatic picture backup device. Unique built-in software automatically finds and copies all of your photos. And it works with multiple computers (PC and MAC!) saving all your precious photos to one secured device for safekeeping.
No software installation is required. Just plug picture keeper into your computer, click “Start Backup” and Picture Keeper’s built in software does the rest! Every time you plug it in, your Picture Keeper will find new additions and add those to its files in the same folder you used to organize your photos. Finally – a backup so easy, you’ll actually do it as you know you should! Check out their website for more information at www.picturekeeper.com or call 1-877-382-0949.
Sizzix Eclips Machine
Okay, I have to admit it. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So, I stopped by the Sizzix booth to watch a demonstration for their new electronic shaped cutter machine, the Eclips. All I can say is, “Wow!” I stood there for 10 minutes like a complete idiot with my mouth hanging open, while Kevin showed me all the cool stuff this machine could do.
Here are a few things they are saying about it : It’s Electronic – with a 3.6” LCD screen that allows you to preview detailed shapes. It has easy on screen navigation. It also has built in material presets for accurate speed and pressure. It’s Easy – intelligent handheld remote control guides you through every step. Select shapes to cut as solids, outlines, shadows, and borders. It also comes with a pen attachment that allows you to draw your images. It’s Economical- create decorative borders for 6 inch and 12 inch projects. Create even longer cuts with the optional 24 inch cutting mat. Cut everything from vellum and paper to cardstock and chipboard. For more information, visit their website at www.sizzix.com/eclips or call 1-877-355-4766
